Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know whether I have the right amount of experience to attend a HandLab course?

All course attendees should have some knowledge of hand anatomy and pathology, as well as some clinical experience treating hand patients.  Since HandLab courses are intended to improve your skills and knowledge, there is not a specific experience prerequisite for attendance.  Read the individual course descriptions to choose a course and if you are unsure which course you should attend, contact us and we can help find the right course for you!

How do I register for a HandLab course?

You can register online using credit card or check payment.  If choosing the check payment option, simply mail in the Copy of Sale with the check.  You can also register by fax or mail using the printable registration form being sure to accurately mark the desired course(s). Send the completed form via mail or fax to HandLab at 1-888-762-6422.

What are my payment options?

The course tuition can be paid by personal or business check and by MasterCard, Visa or Discover. MasterCard, Visa and Discover as well as check payments are accepted for online registrations. Registrations can be mailed or faxed to us at 1-888-762-6422. If you do not receive an email confirmation of your registration being received by us within two weeks, please contact us to assure we have received it.

Will I receive a confirmation of my HandLab registration?

Yes, when HandLab receives your paid registration you will receive an email  confirmation with attachments including course times, course location/directions, local hotel information and course objectives. This information is also available here on the web site. Please note that you will not receive an exact course agenda since the amount of time spent on course topics are driven by participant input at the time of the course.

Does HandLab provide discounts for multiple attendees from one facility?

Unfortunately, the intensive hands-on aspect of HandLab courses prohibits us from being able to offer discounts for multiple attendees.

What are the hours of the courses?

The courses are held from 8:30am - 4:30pm on the first day and from 7:30am - 3:30pm on the second day. We start and end the course earlier on the second day to make it easier for participants to schedule their return trips and allow them to get back home a little earlier.

How do I get lodging information for a particular course?

Click on the Hotel/Travel Info links located on the individual course pages as well as the Course Schedule page. As HandLab is not responsible for lodging, please contact the hotel directly for rates and availability. HandLab does not make arrangements for group discounts for these courses.

Will I receive verification of continuing education hours?

Yes, at the completion of the course you will receive a certificate for course contact hours.  HandLab courses meet criteria "A" for re-certification by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission and may meet individual state continuing education requirements for PTs and OTs, but you should check with your individual state licensing body for clarification.  HandLab is an approved provider of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

How can I get another copy of my certificate?

To request a duplicate copy of your contact hour certificate, you will need to complete a request form and mail or fax it to 1-888-762-6422. There is a $20 charge for duplicate certificates. Once the request and payment is received by HandLab, a new certificate will be sent to you.

Does HandLab credit apply to my state license renewal requirements?

Continuing Education requirements are different in different states. You must check with your state licensing board to confirm approval or assure prior approval.  HandLab cannot guarantee acceptance by your state licensing board. HandLab will provide any information you require to submit for approval.  Please contact info@handlab.com for assistance.
